Heat-Resistant Felt for Aluminum Extrusion

Hot profiles leave the press at up to 650°C and cool on their way to the packing table. We make the felt belts, roller sleeves, pads and covers for every stage, so the surface arrives without a mark.

Along your extrusion line

The temperature decides the felt on your extrusion line

Use the hottest-rated felt only where you need it. Matching each stage to the right fibre keeps the surface clean and the cost down.

600–650°C

Press exit & hot saw

PBO needled onto a Kevlar base replaces graphite where profiles leave the press and meet the hot saw. This is the hottest contact point on the line, and PBO is the felt that takes it without going hard. It also keeps the surface clean, with none of the dust a graphite pad leaves behind.

02

480°C

Run-out table & cooling bed

High-strength Kevlar for the run-out table and the first levels of the cooling bed. Profiles are still soft here, so the felt has to be smooth and even all the way across. Kevlar works at 480°C with peaks to 500°C and keeps its strength as it heats, so belts hold their shape instead of stretching.

03

260°C

Cooling bed, stretcher & aging furnace

Nomex belts, sleeves and pads for the lower cooling bed, basket strips against rack scratches, and spacer bar covers for the aging furnace. By this point the metal is under 260°C, so Nomex does the job at a fraction of the Kevlar cost. Marks made at the stretcher or in the baskets show on the finished profile just as much as marks at the press, so it pays to cover every contact point.

180°C

Saw & packing tables

Once profiles have cooled, polyester felt is the economical choice for saw gauge tables, packing tables and timing belts. It works up to 180°C, which is all these stations need. Keep a spare set on the shelf: these are the parts that see the most handling, and they are quick to change.

Operators

Press & furnace operators

Aluminized suits, hoods and PBO or Kevlar gloves for people working next to the press, the saw and the furnace. Aluminized outerwear reflects the radiant heat at the press and the furnace door, while PBO and Kevlar gloves take the contact heat of hot profiles. Tell us the station and we match the level of protection to it.
