PBO Felt
PBO is the most heat-resistant fibre we use, rated 600°C, or 650°C with a premium grade, and stronger than aramid.
It is usually needled onto a Kevlar base; 3mm PBO + 7mm Kevlar is the standard build.
Used at the extrusion press exit and after the hot saw, where it replaces graphite.

PBO vs Kevlar vs Nomex
PBO sits at the top of the heat scale. Use it only where Kevlar is no longer enough.
Temperatures are typical working limits for our felt; the real limit depends on contact time, load and thickness. Tell us where the part runs and we will confirm the grade.

Common applications
Where PBO felt works best
01
Aluminium press exit
Replaces graphite on the run-out table right after the press, where profiles are hottest.
02
Hot saw & run-out table
Roller sleeves and timing belts for the first positions after the hot saw.
03
Galvanized steel sheet
Para-aramid belts with a PBO option for sheet lines running at 500–600°C.
04
Operator protection
PBO gloves and mittens for handling hot profiles and tools.
