Steel sheet felt belt

Kevlar and PBO felt belts for galvanized steel sheet lines

Hot, freshly coated sheet needs a belt that takes the heat without marking the surface.

This belt is needle punched from 100% Kevlar or 100% PBO.

It carries hot sheet on galvanizing lines, steel sheet making machines and rolling mills.

Why aramid felt

Why choose a Kevlar or PBO steel sheet belt

01

Two heat grades

Kevlar runs at 480°C with peaks to 500°C. PBO goes up to 650°C.

02

Clean on coated sheet

A flat, smooth needled face will not mark galvanized sheet.

03

No broken needles

Every belt is checked so no broken needle stays in the felt.

Application

Where steel sheet felt belts run

The belts carry hot sheet on galvanizing lines.

They also run on steel sheet making machines and in rolling mills.

Use PBO where the sheet is hotter than Kevlar can take.

Our factory

How we make steel sheet felt belts

01

Kevlar or PBO fibre

We use 100% Kevlar para-aramid, or 100% PBO for hotter lines.

PBO is the most heat-resistant fibre we use.

Send the line temperature and we will tell you which one pays off.

Raw Kevlar fibre
Carding fibre into an even web

02

Carding

Carding opens the fibre and combs out impurities and short lint.

We control temperature and humidity so the web stays even.

An even web is what keeps the finished felt the same thickness from edge to edge.

03

Web laying and needling

The web is cross-laid to about 450 g/m² per mm of thickness.

Needle punching builds it from 5mm to 15mm thick.

The thickness you pick depends on the sheet weight and the roller size.

04

Metal grommets

Metal grommets or eyelets are set into both ends.

They fix the belt to the line.

Send the grommet spacing your line uses and we set them to it.

05

Sizing

Belts are made to 1200, 1420 or 1500mm diameter, or to your size.

Edges come out clean, with no loose fibre.

Send the roller diameter if your line is not one of those three sizes.

06

Needle check

Every finished piece passes through a metal detector.

No broken needle leaves the factory inside the felt.

A broken needle tip left in the felt would mark your rollers or your product.
