Nomex felt pad
Nomex felt pads for cooling bed levels 3 and 4
By levels 3 and 4 of a walking-beam cooling bed, Nomex is all the heat needs.
This pad is needle punched from 100% Nomex meta-aramid.
A hardening resin finish keeps it tough on the transfer and on level 4.

Why Nomex
Why choose a Nomex felt pad
01
Sized for the heat
Nomex runs at 260°C and takes peaks to 280°C, enough for levels 3 and 4.
02
No graphite marks
Felt pads do not scratch the profile or leave particles behind.
03
Even all the way
Needled in one piece with no joint, so the thickness stays even along the pad.

Application
Where Nomex felt pads go
Nomex pads cover level 3, the transfer, and level 4 of walking-beam cooling beds.
Levels 1 and 2 run hotter. Use Kevlar or PBO pads there.
Our factory
How we make Nomex felt pads
01
Nomex fibre
We use 100% Nomex meta-aramid fibre.
It holds its strength at 260°C and does not melt or drip.
The flame resistance is in the fibre itself, so it does not wash out or wear off.

02
Carding
Carding opens the fibre and combs out impurities and short lint.
We control temperature and humidity so the web stays even.
An even web is what keeps the finished felt the same thickness from edge to edge.
03
Web laying and needling
The web is cross-laid in layers to the weight you need.
Needle punching then locks the fibre onto the base cloth.
The barbed needles pull fibre through the layers, so the felt holds together without glue.

04
Resin treatment
Resin grades run from R0 (no resin) to R3 (rigid).
Resin adds wear resistance and stops aluminium swarf sticking to the felt.
Tell us how abrasive the position is and we will suggest the grade.
05
Cutting
Each pad is cut to your width and length.
Edges come out clean, with no loose fibre.
Pads are cut from one piece, so there is no seam across the working face.

06
Needle check
Every finished piece passes through a metal detector.
No broken needle leaves the factory inside the felt.
A broken needle tip left in the felt would mark your rollers or your product.

FAQ
Nomex felt pad FAQ
What do you need to quote?
The pad width, length and thickness.
A photo of the cooling bed helps. Add your delivery address for shipping.
What is the difference between 260°C and 280°C?
260°C is the temperature the pad can run at all day.
280°C is the short peak it can take.
Can Nomex pads go on levels 1 and 2?
No. Those levels run hotter than Nomex is rated for.
Use Kevlar or PBO pads there.
Which hardness grade should I choose?
R0 has no resin and is the softest. R3 is rigid.
Tell us the position and the profile type, and we suggest a grade.
How does ordering work?
We send a quote and an invoice. Production starts when payment arrives.
