This pad is needle punched from 100% polyester.

Soft pad
Layered and lower density. A 10mm pad is needled as five layers.

Hard pad
One solid layer at higher density, for more grip on the strip.

Protects the surface
The felt holds the strip and wipes it without scratching.

The pads sit in the tension unit of steel coil slitting lines.
They hold the strip tight and clean the surface as it passes.
They suit cold-rolled steel.

How we make felt tension pads
01
Polyester fibre
We use 100% polyester fibre.
It suits the cold slitting line, under 160°C.
Above that the fibre softens, so Nomex is the better choice.

Carding
Carding opens the fibre and combs out impurities and short lint.
We control temperature and humidity so the web stays even.
An even web is what keeps the finished felt the same thickness from edge to edge.

Web laying and needling
The web is cross-laid to the weight you need.
Soft pads are needled in layers. Hard pads are needled as one.
A thicker pad cushions more, which helps on uneven or seamed work.

Density limits
The densest pad we make is 320 g/m² per mm.
At 20mm thick, pads come in 5500 or 7000 g/m².
If you need a heavier pad than that, tell us and we will check what we can do.

Cutting
Each pad is cut to your machine.
Edges come out clean, with no loose fibre.
Edges are cut square, so the pad sits flat in the holder.

Needle check
Every finished piece passes through a metal detector.
No broken needle leaves the factory inside the felt.
A broken needle tip left in the felt would mark your rollers or your product.

ISO 9001 certified felt factory
We work to an ISO 9001 quality system.
QC staff check the raw fibre and every production step.
Certificates are on file and we can send copies with your quote.
If you need a test report with an order, ask for it before production starts.
Packing
How tension pads are packed
Pads are wrapped in clear film.
They then go into cartons for shipping.
Tell us if your forwarder needs different packing and we will pack to that.

Soft or hard?
Soft pads are layered and lower density. Hard pads are one layer and denser.
Soft and hard pads of the same size cost the same.
How thick can a pad be?
Up to 20mm.
At that thickness the weight is 5500 or 7000 g/m².
How does ordering work?
We send a quote and an invoice. Production starts when payment arrives.
The balance is paid before shipment.
